Donald “Don” McNay, a respected author and financial expert, passed away on May 29, 2016. Born in 1959, he founded McNay Settlement Group and was renowned for his expertise in structured settlements and lottery finance. He also authored eight best-selling books and was recognized for his contributions to journalism and community service.

Kimberly A. Rabeck Taylor, an industry colleague, passed away on September 1, 2025, after a prolonged struggle with cancer. Her death has saddened many who knew her. The obituary was published by Barrett Leber Funeral Home in Tenafly, NJ, commemorating her life and contributions.

One settlement planning firm in our industry lists a 91 year old as a Team Member, but forgot to display his most recent “credential”, the RIP. If only the Team Member were living. He died in September 2021.

Terry Nolan Taylor, a pioneering settlement broker from Austin, Texas, died on April 2, 2023, at age 76. He co-founded The James Street Group and founded Plaintiff Structures. Taylor advocated against factoring structured settlements and influenced federal legislation while later partnering with a Canadian factoring company, highlighting a notable career in structured settlements.

Charly Schell, Chief Strategist at Armis Advisers, CEO of Bison Advisors, and one of the original co-Founders of Forge Consulting passed away in a plane crash over the Rocky Mountains this weekend. Charly’s wife Kelli Taylor Schell also perished, General Manager of Cateechee in Hartwell Georgia.

James Street has died. Street was head of the eponymous The James Street Group, a structured settlement firm in Houston Texas who as Jimmy Street, quarterbacked the 1969 National Championship Texas Longhorns and was a two time All-American pitcher.
