” Dumb and Dumber”
- Zak N. Thompson of structured settlement factoring company Reliance Funding got tapped up by Eugene Matusevich to misuse his employer’s database subscription for non company business.
- Zak was dumb to use his privileges to obtain the personal details of the Maryland cop that gave him a $50 ticket in a Really Dumb Move for both.
- Bethesda’s Eugene Matusevich received a traffic ticket for which he was convicted in November 2017. The ticket was for $50, for an illegal U-turn.
- Matusevich felt aggrieved, so what did he do? He asked Zak. then an employee of structured settlement factoring company Reliance Funding, for assistance.
- Thompson then allegedly provided Matusevich with the police officer’s cellphone number, home address, Social Security number, salary and the make and year of the car the officer owned.
- Ostensibly to exact revenge over his $50 ticket, actions for which Matusevich is now facing criminal charges, Matusevich then sent the officer “a ton” of offensive text messages, signed the officer up for ” 500+ software demo calls,” enrolled his phone number in “100+ drug rehab places” and posted the officer’s phone number “all over” Craigslist ads that featured sexual encounters with other men. All over a $50 and an unwillingness to accept responsibility, pay $50 and just move the heck on.
Crimonal Charges filed against Matusevich and Zak Thompson
Criminal charges were filed against both Matusevich and Zak Thompson, who lost his $65,000 per year job at Reliance Funding as a result of his stupidity and bad judgment
Thompson’s LinkedIn shows Reliance Funding as previous employment from December 2017. Thompson’s case is set for trial March 15, 2018 in Rockville, MD. Thompson faces up to 2 years in jail and $1,000 in fines over his gross overreaction to the consequences over his own illegal U turn ZakThompson’s rap sheet has a 2012 DWI guilty verdict and a 2014 DUI guilty verdict, plus a number of traffic citations, driving using suspended licensed and possession of Fake ID, according to Maryland Judiciary Case Search.

- Reliance Funding and other structured settlement cash-now companies often use skip trace tools like TransUnion’s TLOx and Accurint to locate people during business operations, typically to serve them notices about pending structured settlement factoring transactions
- There are strict regulations on how this information can be used, and harassment is definitely not one of the permitted uses.
