Fifteen years after these videos were published, in 2024, the disgraceful collapse of SuttonPark, once the largest payment servicer of structured settlement receivables, underscored the ongoing significance and severity of this issue. John Darer’s commentary on the SuttonPark Nightmare, spanning from May 2024 through April 2025, included over 26 hours of pro bono assistance to those affected, primarily within a 30-day period from mid-November to December 2024. He published victim impact stories and shed light on the alarming lack of information available to individuals compelled to engage with SuttonPark, striving to fill this void for many grateful individuals.
What is alarming about the SuttonPark Nightmare is that it could have been prevented with better regulation. Any regulation would have been better. Just remember I saw the potential for this happening in 2009.
The National Association of Settlement Purchasers even had Bruce Akerly as a speaker at their annual meeting less than one month after my 2 videos were aired on Legal Boradcast Network.
