Jack Meligan of Settlement Professionals Inc. has penned a blog post with a vital message for plaintiff attorneys—unfortunately, it's paired with "standard intelligence" on structured settlements that's about as fresh as a six-year-old fruitcake
The post "Calling Early v Calling Late in the Case" advises plaintiff attorneys to involve their settlement planner early to prevent their best intentions from being undermined. The author concurs with the core message but disagrees with the approach outlined.
Furthermore, the word intelligence conjures up images of "secret information, especially about an actual or potential enemy, including the agency, staff or office employed with gathering such information" (see Answers.com)
As the International Spy Museum cleverly proclaims, "All Is Not What It Seems." The so-called standard intelligence on display is laughably outdated, and no, it wasn’t sourced by an "SPI" Predator drone menacingly circling New York City (oh, the irony!). Nor was it stealthily gathered by SPI agents undercover as janitors.
The word intelligence also means the capacity to acquire and apply knowledge.
