Here’s how to spot an obvious structured settlement "pretender". Check out this excerpt which appears in an online advertisement for Amicus Capital Services.

"The Amicus Capital Services offers settlement-structuring services as part of our package of attorney finance services. Rather than taking on the headache of finding and negotiating with a REPUTABLE structured settlement broker, why not let us do it?" Brewing    That’s right ladies and gentlemen… he said "rather than a REPUTABLE structured settlement broker"

The contact information on the Amicus Capital Services web site shows an address in Valencia California. The URL for the website shows www. wdtconsulting.com. Mr. "WDT", William Dwayne Tilley IS a licensed insurance producer according to the California Department of Insurance website, with no appointments. However Tilley is NOT shown as having an active insurance license in Texas, Colorado, Arizona or Oregon.

Mr. Tilley is NOT a member of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association, according to a member search conducted at www.nssta.com

Mr. Tilley is NOT a member of the Society of Settlement Planners, according to a member search conducted at www.settlementplanners.org

Mr. Tilley is NOT a Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC)

A quick search shows that Mr. Tilley is NOT listed on the websites of EPS, Ringler, SPI, Delta, Summit or Creative-Capital and, on information received by this author, Amicus Capital  Services is NOT affiliated with the reputable Amicus Financial Advisors, LLP!

I’ve been doing structured settlements for a long time and know most people in the industry and I’ve never heard of this guy!  He’s obviously a small time operator. So is he full of $%& or is he pipelining cases through a "structured settlement firm" that has appointments?

Why would anyone in the structured settlement industry want to be associated with someone whose apparent standards include the suggestion that attorneys and consumers deal with him over a reputable structured settlement broker?
