ALERT TO ALL CONSUMERS, LICENSED INSURANCE AGENTS, BROKERS, ATTORNEYS!
WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR A MASSIVE GRASS ROOTS CAMPAIGN TO ROOT OUT THE SOURCE OF CONFUSION AND MISINFORMATION ABOUT STRUCTURED SETTLEMENTS ON THE INTERNET FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELVES!
- If you see a website for a company that advertises that it gives you, or claims to be able to give you, structured settlement quotes or free structured settlement quotes, but later turns out to be a company that just buys rights to structured settlement payments, don't engage before you check their licensing status in your state here and, if unlicensed, send me an email to structures@aol.com letting me know what you've discovered;
- If you see a web site for a company that claims to be a "provider of structured settlement payments" that is not an insurance company or treasury bond structured settlement vendor, don't engage before you check their licensing status in your state here and , if unlicensed, send me an email to structures@aol.com letting me know what you've discovered;
- If you see a web site that claims that it is or employs a structured settlement professional, structured settlement broker, structured settlement agent or structured settlement expert don't engage before you check their licensing status in your state here and, if unlicensed send me an email to structures@aol.com letting me know what you've discovered;
- If you see a website where there is a claim to be a Certified Structured Settlement Consultant you can easily verify that by contacting the National Structured Settlement Trade Association (NSSTA) at nssta@aol.com or 202-289-4004 and, if not credentialed send me an email to structures@aol.com letting me know what you've discovered
- If you see a website that claims to give structured settlement information but only gives a short paragraph before plunging in to a solicitaton to sell your structured settlement payments, please send me an email to structures@aol.com letting me know what you've discovered
- If you encounter any website related to structured settlements that contains a direct or implied solicitation to you to sell your rights to structured settlement payments that does not list the legal name of the company, the legal address of the company and some means to contact them, please send me an email to structures@aol.com letting me know what you've discovered
Once again you can check to see if the entity making claim is licensed in your state by visiting the NAIC list of State Insurance Departments or clicking here
Your emails should provide the URL or address of the offending web page and if possible the name of the company.
You as consumers can help us in our effort to notify and brief the Attorneys General, Insurance Commissioners, Departments of Consumer Affairs and other appropriate regulatory authorities of advertising abuse in our effort to clean up the confusion. Both state and federal governments have truth in advertising laws which we intend to see are enforced.
