San Francisco based Kontera Corporation’s flagship product, ContentLink™, finds contextually relevant keywords on a publisher’s web page in real-time and automatically matches them to relevant ads presented as In-Text sponsored keyword links. This may be all well and good if you are drawing text out of an article, but in a business directory?

Allpages.com, an offshore company "featured" in a Structured Settlements 4Real AWOS post last fall, appears to sell advertising for businesses to be listed in its directory then contracts with Kontera for Content Link whose advertisers buy keywords or keyword combinations. Then, each time a directory listing comes up with a business name that includes the keyword or keyword combination, the viewer sees the listing they want, they are "visually accosted" by a distracting hyperlink that will lead you to the Content Link advertiser.

  1. The way Allpages is using it, Content Link serves to divert legitimate sources of business away from the person listing in the directoryto the Content Link Advertiser.
  2. By including Kontera content links, Allpages appears to make money off of the business listing advertiser each time someone is diverted to the Content Link keyword advertiser. Check the link to the right. Download dc-0098306132-washington.pdf

This is a listing for the National Structured Settlement Trade Association (NSSTA). The Kontera Content Link leads to Structured Settlement Alliance, the DMI Partners created alter ego for JG Wentworth that doesn’t even create to sell structured settlements. It is a factoring outlet. As reported last fall, the keyword was owned by FDR Resources.

The link placement creates the misleading impression that somehow JG Wentworth is connected to the National Structured Settlement Trade Association. IT’S SO NOT!

This is the new form of pay per click ad folks. Beware!
