Peachtree Settlement Funding (since July 2005) portrays itself as a supplier of "Insurance Products-Annuities" in the buyers guide section of the website of the American Bankers Association. I checked the Florida Division of Financial Services (where Peachtree is based) to see if by chance there was a valid life insurance license (needed to sell annuities) under both

Peachtree Settlement Funding is not alone its portrayal of itself as a supplier of insurance products-annuities. Strategic Capital is also listed. I checked Strategic Capital Download fla_insurance_search_strategic_capital.pdf and Douglas Goss, based in Florida and listed as Strategic Capital's Managing Director of Attorney Referrals Download fla_insurance_search_douglas_goss.pdf as well as President & CEO David Meyerowitz Download fla_insurance_search_meyerowitz.pdf . In my opinion these persons and entities (or any other factoring companies whose choice of words "slight of hand" suggests that they are licensed to sell insurance or annuities) do not belong in any directory or advertisement that portrays them as a person or entity who (which) supplies or sells insurance products or annuities. In previous posts I've exposed other areas where similar vendors have used insurance terms loosely and in a manner which could confuse consumers. The above is just another example.
