I came across a web site called JG Wentworth History which appears to be compiling information about JG Wentworth including such items as its Better Business Bureau report and some cases against it. They have also linked to one of the structured settlement advertising "wall of shame" posts on this web log.
Some of the links point toward old cases which predate the enactment of many states' structured settlement protection acts. However it is useful and interesting information to give readers an idea of the history of factoring transactions involving structured settlement payment rights.
Interesting to note from one of the links and something I wasn't aware of… Andrew S. Hillman, now listed as a Patron member of the Society of Settlement Planners, was at one time the Senior Vice-President and General Counsel of JG Wentworth.
Another interesting thing to note…there is a link to a press release from Elliot Spitzer's office of the New York State Attorney General. In the press release JG Wentworth is referred to as "the nation's largest speciaty financing company" . No claims there about being the leader in the structured settlements industry! My question to JG Wentworth is why can't you live within the frame in which Elliott Spitzer's office once put you. It's a much more apt definition for what you do and it doesn't confuse the consumer.
Other factoring companies who claim to be structured settlement companies, structured settlement brokers, structured settlement agents, structured settlement experts, structured settlement advisors or structured settlement planners please take note.
