“Structured Settlement Legend” of 2010 Disappears | Was The Solicitor of “Average Joe”

by Structured Settlement Watchdog®

Pop Up Solicitation, Fake Credentials, Fake Status, Solicited Investors to Make Easy Money and Gone in Less Than 2 Years

This story is being told as a chilling illustration of how lax regulations regarding the investment of structured settlement payment rights** make it possible in the post Bernie Madoff, Scott Rothstein, Allen Stanford, First International Bank of Grenada era,  for someone with no finanal credentials:

  • to create a website on one day
  • conjure up and slap a press release online the next day calling themselves and/or someone real or imaginary,  “Harvard Trained” and “a structured settlement legend”
  • in an effort to solicit investment business from the Average Joe.
  • And less than two years later the “Harvard trained structured settlement legend” is off the grid.

A September 6, 2010 press release trumpeted that “Harvard-trained financial expert is imploring average Joe to make a killing in the structured settlements market

What does “Make a Killing” mean?

The phrase “make a killing” means to earn a lot of money in a short time and with little effort Source: Cambridge Dictionary.

In “Structured Settlement Certified Expert” Certified By Whom?, my September 7, 2010 post, I questioned the press release from a “James Adler” announcing a new website on structured settlements. In the press release “James Adler” had been described  as a “structured settlement legend” and a “decade long certified structured settlement expert”. Less than 2 years later he’s “off the grid” with Elwood P. Dowd and Harvey the Rabbit.

Apparently the “Harvard trained structured settlement legend” James Adler is nowhere to be found. Off the grid!  For starters, the phone number is not in service. The only James Adler that comes up on page 1 of Google is involved in Harvard Divinity, not Harvard Business School.

For “bits and kibbles” I checked the whois history  for the acquired domain and found that a Brian E Dean of 345 East 72 Street Apt 1D Cranston,NY 10021 was the registrant at the time of the James Adler press release. Of course, if you try Googling Cranston NY, you will not find it because there is no Cranston, New York and 10021 is one of the tony zip codes for the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Brian E Dean is a Registered Dietitian, educated at Tufts, who writes alot of online articles and is the owner of the Back Pain Diet, according to his LinkedIn profile. The phone number listed on the previous domain registration (9/5/2010) for the acquired web domain and his dietitian practice are the same, but apparently the line is “not accepting incoming calls”.

4structures.com, LLC recently acquired http://www.structuredsettlementsexpert.com from GoDaddy. The Internet domain name was advertised in a September 6, 2010 press release as being owned by “James Adler” of 431 E 72nd St., New York, NY 10021, 718-389-5422.

** I am referring to aspects of the secondary and tertiary market where structured settlement payment rights are acquired from the structured settlement annuitants and then sold to investors
