Structured Settlements 4Real®Blog 2026

Structured settlements expert John Darer reviews the latest structured settlements and settlement planning information and news, and provides expert opinion and highly regarded commentary. that is spicy, Informative, irreverent and effective for over 20 years.

Judging by the conduct of the individuals who have made ongoing attacks on this author and his business since February 2012, we have a text book definition of cyberstalking.

At least one individual who will be named in a civil complaint in Connecticut Federal Court shortly, is the parent of young children. It is ironic that a parent of young children is associated with such alleged conduct when the subject of cyberbullying is on the radar of parents of school aged children these days. The alleged wrongdoer and his wife live in the suburbs, drive one or more SUVs and live the American dream.  Although I am not a parent, I can't imagine a parent setting such a poor example for their children. I can't imagine growing up to find out that a parent has been alleged to be involved in such elaborate deceptive business practices. I can't imagine someone putting their future livelihood in jeopardy by engaging in such alleged conduct out of abject hatred for me.  I can't say I hate this person despite the acts he has allegedly engaged in or directed and the amount of money that it took to confirm his connection. I really pity this poor bastard, for everything that has happened in his life up to this point, that I have nothing to do with,  that would lead him to believe that it is appropriate or acceptable to engage or direct others in such deparved conduct has has been on exhibit since about February 8, 2012.

The ringleader of the alleged misconduct is in the structured settlement factoring business.  For 6 1/2 years I have been an outspoken critic of the business practices of some companies in the structured settlement factoring industry.  I believe that my commentary has been fair and most of it is focused on advertising and solicitation methods used, or that appearto be used by these companies. I try to explain or support why I feel a certain way. I have not been critical of all companies. I like to feel I have an open dialogue with virtually every major company and in November 2010 I was even invited to appear and did appear on a constructive structured settlement industry panel at the National Association of Settlement Purchasers annual meeting at the Venetian, in Las Vegas. The person alleged to be behind the misconduct is not a member of NASP.

I have met many fine people in the factoring industry who I've got to know and who've got to know me. We don't always agree, but we can agree to disagree. I have even written some nice things about some of them.

I once did  a small amount of business with the individual who is alleged to be behind the conduct.  Something has changed about this person in the last few years. There is a bitterness about life, or his past,  that is evident in the deplorable conduct that is exhibited and more specifically the nuclear, disproportionate amount of misplaced energy being directed at me in an unspecific manner.

The Michael Jackson song "Man In Mirror" might be a place to start, before it is too late. Come in from the cold. If not for you. Do it for your kids.
