Consumer advocate Clark Howard is an Atlanta native who has always been very involved in improving his community and has started several civic programs. In 1993 he opened the Consumer Action Center, an advice service for consumer questions and staffed by over 140 volunteers. He describes himself on his website as "your pocket protector" (sounds a bit geeky but clever).
I happened upon an email thread from the Clark Howard Show in which a woman describes extreme remorse for having sold her son's structured settlement payment rights to JG Wentworth and wonders if there's anything she can do. Her son is now in Iraq and has to declare bankruptcy. I think the thread speaks for itself as to this consumer's feelings about a very bad decision which will have a lifetime impact.
The moral of the story, caveat venditor or seller beware!
