Why has a simple open letter and written request with simple "yes" or "no" questions fouled up Presidential candidate John Edwards?
For over 4 months Presidential John Edwards has not been able to respond to the truth about his relationship with Buffalo, NY and Hartwell, GA based Forge Consulting, LLC.
- What we do know is that Forge Consulting has raised alot of campaign money for John Edwards and has hosted at least one fundraiser at its corporate headquarters at 737 Main Street Buffalo, NY Download buffalo_news_jan_8_2007_forgeedwards_connection.pdf
- We know that Forge Consulting posted a purported testimonial by John Edwards on its website, up and until July 13, 2007, in which Edwards was purported to have given Forge Consulting, LLC "his highest recommendation." Download forge_consulting_testimonial_web_page.pdf . That Forge web page now lists as "under construction". It is believed that Forge has not reposted its testimonial web page because the omission of John Edwards would beg the obvious question after it had been posted for so long.
- Structured Settlements 4Real believes that Forge Consulting used the subject of its campaign contributions in an unsuccessful battle to keep the purported testimonial on its website and it appears that John Edwards and/or the John Edwards campaign is too chicken to answer the question to risk cutting off the Forge Consulting campaign funding resource.
- We do know that John T. Bair, President of Forge Consulting pasted the purported testimonial from the website into a letter he sent to a New York State attorney authored February 21, 2007 Download forge_feb_21_2007_letterny_statejohn_bair.pdf . Read that letter and pay attention to the message tied to John Edwards. At the time the letter was sent out Bair knew he was on the Department of Justice broker list having knowledge that he signed this declaration Download 2006_bair_doj_50.24 Declaration.pdf, under penalty of perjury, to having done defense work in each of the previous 3 years, and this one Download 2005_bair_doj_50.24 Declaration.pdf the year before.
- We do know that John Edwards is unlikely to have ever used Forge Consulting, LLC for structured settlements or settlement planning because Forge Consulting, LLC wasn’t conducting business until about 4 years after John Edwards became a United States Senator.
- We question John Edwards standards if he gives Forge Consulting, LLC his "highest recommendation" given the revelations about business practices of Forge Consulting, LLC and its principals (synposis here and at the Forge Issue link on the right side of this page)
- We do know that in March 2007 John Edwards looked into the camera and said to Katie Couric and millions of Americans that he was open to scrutiny. Click here for the clip of him saying that he "was open to scrutiny"**. Where’s the beef?
- We do know that both John Edwards and senior members of John Edwards campaign have the knowledge of this matter. They have been made aware of the issue that Forge Consulting has been using Edwards purported words to sell regulated financial products such as annuities, trusts and managed accounts. They have had ample time to respond.
This author is beginning to sense that there is much more to this than meets the eye.
Could it be that John Edwards is more worried about campaign money than the truth? Perhaps its time that the Forge question now be asked of John Edwards by his opponents and members of the major news media for the benefit of registered voters.
