Time in a Bottle? | A Settlement Planner’s “Helpful” Structured Settlement Dead Links

by Structured Settlement Watchdog

The wistful  lyrics of “Time in a Bottle”,  a 1973 folk rock song by the late Jim Croce, seem an appropriate preamble to some playful needling in today’s post.

Time in a bottle

Time in a bottle
“If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save every day
Till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save every day like a treasure,,,”

Wanted Dead or Alive

  • 50% of the life insurance companies listed in the settlement planning firm’s ” Helpful Links” are dead links to companies no longer writing structured settlements.
  • These companies’ exits from the market range from 3 1/2 to 9 years ago!
  • Under non qualified assignments, the settlement planning firm lists a life insurance company that has not been active for more than 8 years

Symetra ceased writing structured settlements in 2012

Dead Link

Allstate ceased writing structured settlements in early 2013

Dead Link

Allstate International Assignments leads to a Chinese website

Link rot is the phenomenon of hyperlinks tending over time to cease to point to their originally targeted file, web page, or server due to that resource being relocated to a new address or becoming permanently unavailable. Also known as Links to nowhere or link death.  See What Is Link Rot And How Does It Affect You? | EvolveDash

It’s a good business practice to regularly review a website to assure information is current and prune dead links for a better consumer experience.

Really folks, “every shing-a-ling-a-ling” doesn’t have to be in there!
