Martha Neil of ABA Journal Shambolic Reporting of Scott Rothstein Ponzi Scheme
Matha Neil of the ABA Journal inexplicably continued her shambolic reporting of the Scott Rothstein Ponzi scheme as if it purportedly related to structured settlements. It did not.
In an afterthought to a story on a clawback, she wrote “Convicted in a $1.2 billion swindle involving the sale of future income from nonexistent structured settlements to investors, Rothstein has been disbarred and is serving a 50-year prison term”. October 19, 2011
Here’s what I wrote on June 14, 2011 after another defamation by Martha Neil after her misrepresentation as about structured settlements in June 2011.
Did Martha Neil read the Criminal Complaint BEFORE Publishing?
Its bad enough that a reporter gets it wrong, but how about the publisher, ABA Journal? Was there any standard of editorial review of the facts? Did they EVER review the criminal complaint against Scott Rothstein?
Nowhere in the criminal complaint was there a discussion of structured settlements. Why did the ABA, an organization whose members use and benefit from structured settlements, appear to condone the fabrication of a lie about structured settlements, a product that also benefits many tort victims?
