Wal-Mart Class Action Law Suits- Who Is Administering Them?

by John Darer CLU ChFC MSSC RSP CLTC

Is there someone who is really interested in "Mass Torts Made Perfect" and not just using it as a slogan?

I just received the umpteenth call from someone with a $75 check from a Wal-Mart class action settlement. Today it was the Illiadis Qualified Settlement Fund. Before that it was the Mussman Qualified Settlement Fund and another nameless qualified settlement funds emanating from class acton suits against Wal-Mart. The Iliadis QSF apparently doesn't even have a website that comes up in Google search.

Might I suggest to the class action law firms or administration firms that take on these cases that they make an effort to do a far better job than they are doing at informing people who are claimants under the qualified settlement fund that you are possibly reaping hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars in fees from.

I have given pro bono service to hundreds of callers because what the law firms or administration firms are doing is inadequate. It's a shame.

I got the same thing and never cashed the check. Likewise it showed up in my W@ form. I never put my name into a class action lawsuit. However, I was Terminated by Walmart and can only guess this was the reason. I feel entirely betrayed by this and blind sided.

We have nothing to do with this Wal-Mart class action which is why I painstakingly wrote 3 blog posts to try and help people with some information that I was able to obtain from Google research and to dilute the volume of the calls we were getting on our toll free line. What ever check you did or did not receive it is deminimis (From $13 to $50). If you pay taxes the tax will be minimal. Save your energy. Take the W-2 to your tax preparer or someone like H&R Block and move on with your life.
