The structured settlement broker at your client's mediation hands you a business card with the letters CSSC after his or her name.
What is a CSSC?
CSSC stands for Certified Structured Settlement Consultant, the result of a professional certification program by the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA) that was hosted at the University of Notre Dame each session. Following the Pandemic, the CSSC certification program has been hosted at the McCombs School of the University of Texas at Austin. NSSTA has been awarding the CSSC since 1994.
A consultant holding the CSSC certification should possess the fundamental body of knowledge required for success in the structured settlement profession having completed more than 60+ hours of study and a comprehensive examination. However the program currently has no continuing education requirement.
Then there's MSSC!
I am also an MSSC, which stands for Master Structured Settlement Consultant, a designation I earned in 2015. Initially, the Master Structured Settlement Consultant program was held at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Following the pandemic, the program relocated to Austin and is now conducted annually at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.
