A rampant rumor circulating today throughout the structured settlement industry, that a major factoring company has an ownership interest in,  or is providing the financing for, a structured settlement general agency has been 100% categorically denied by the owner of the general agency in question in an interview given to this author this afternoon.

The categorical denial was in responses to these questions:

"1. Was  (factoring company), or a company in which (factoring company) has an
interest, involved in any way in a transaction involving your company?
2. (General Agent), is (factoring company), or a company in which (factoring company) has an
interest directly or indirectly involved (i) in the ownership or
operation of your company (ii) the financing of your company?
3. Is there a direct or indirect joint venture between (structured settlement general agency 1) or (structured settlement general agency 2) and (factoring company)?

Obviously the answers to these questions are important to me personally as
well as newsworthy, material and of interest to the structured
settlement/settlement planning industry and its stakeholders.

Thank you for promptly addressing these questions".

This author also attempted to contact the legal counsel for the factoring company cited in the rumor but has not received a return call as of the time of writing.

Last summer, rumors were being spread by an NSSTA and SSP member during the AAJ annual meeting that another general agency was purchasing a factoring company. Those rumors also turned out to be untrue.
