Google Adsense Carpet Bombers are those individuals or entities that create web sites with a small amount of text that is dominated by the Google Adsense ads appearing on the page. The Bulgarian website cited in the previous article had 14 Google Adsense ads surrounding the text. Some of these carpet bombers fall into the splog (spam weblog) category. But the most recent incarnations are web sites that scrape small amounts of text about structured settlements from other web sites and either create a shady looking site using the same title as a legitimate structured settlement web site, or incorporate the scraped text into a more legitimate looking a site.
Either way, due to the popularity of the key word "structured settlement" and "structured settlements" the structured settlement industry has been bombarded for over 2 years with such sites. The owners of such sites hope to a monetize their blogs and web sites and earn in excess of $50 per click.
Incentives for such activity can be reduced by:
- Helping consumers recognize characteristics of websites created by paid writers (sponsored reviewers) and part timers with no structured settlement credentials.
- Helping consumers recognize web sites created by insurance licensed structured settlement professionals are the best source of information about annuity based structured settlements
- By consumers and curiosity seekers not clicking on any of the Google Adsense ads (Ads by Google).
Structured Settlements 4Real is creating a Google Adsense Carpet Bombers Wall of Shame since Google appears to be the most widely used for this phemonenon. As the identities of the offensive parties are obtained they will be posted on here on an update of this web page.
If you are going to scrape other people’s content, write or compile gibberish then you deserve the non- complimentary notoriety. For those of you who think there is a return link coming to you for identifying you, be forewarned that there will be no link!
