When I registered certain domain names for my other blog The Structured Sales Authority from GoDaddy.com a couple of months ago I elected to have the privacy feature activated. The idea is that you can hide your personal details from the masses looking up your registration details using the Whois function at most major domain name registrars, thus avoiding alot of spam emails.
Unfortunately this privacy feature has enabled spam bloggers (sploggers) to exist with stealth and (to date) impunity while they effectively, hijack content, in some cases violate registered trade and service marks and set "research booby traps" for consumers from their sniper’s nests. Eventually this may lead to extensive liability exposure and litigation costs to domain name registrars. Domain registrars should consider withdrawing this feature. Spam is a pain but its far worse to be abetting the sploggers.
