In my recent post Beware "Cash Now" companies with no posted Privacy Policy and no https", I tackled the phenomenon of how a number of "cash now" companies request personal identifiable information over the Internet with either no protection or toothy assurances over how the information will be treated (or both).
A further survey of such "cash now" companies websites brings me to another recent target, Virginia Dunn’s Integrity Funding Services (which also calls itself IFS). Integrity Funding uses the quote form linked here. Despite the fact that a social security number is requested online, the form appears not to be secure
.As part of my investigation I sent in a test response and discovered that the request was at no time in a secure SSL session (no https…NO PADLOCK ). Integrity states that information is confidential but the mention is so fleeting and incomplete that I have serious doubts as to whether it would meet a high standard such as TrustE.
Here are 10 consumer tips that TRustE says will help protect your personally identifiable information on the Internet.
As TrustE says… Make Privacy YOUR choice!
