Thanks to Knowledge Management expert Patrick Hindert of S2KM for the reference to our "Boo Symetra and Boo Hoo Too!" post, dated January 14, 2006, in his Beyond Structured Settlements blog. Patrick publishes the actual announcement from Symetra that inspired the post (which I and other structured settlement consultants received).
FYI-the "Dude, You're Getting A Lump Sum" preppy guy with dreads appeared on the Clearscape Funding Corporation web site. Incidentally I've received alot of traffic to my original post.
People I've spoken to expressed a similar level of disappointment in Symetra as I have
Generally what I've heard is that people feel it's acceptable to assist your own structured settlement annuitants who are receiving structured settlement payments. It's when you step out of your own yard and play both the "creation" and "destruction" side of the structured settlement business to reap rewards as a full time factoring business that is a problem. You can put whatever spin on it that you want but it still stinks.
