Social Security Annual Benefit Statements have been suspended by the government as a cost saving measure. The Social Security Administration (SSA) has also indefintely suspended the Form SSA-7004, "Request for Social Security Statement" service.
Social Security benefits are based on a worker's lifetime earnings history. Therefore it is very important to be assured that all earnings are accurately listed on Social Security Administration (SSA) records. Until this latest development, the SSA automatically mailed an annual benefit statement to workers age 25 and older who were not currently receiving Social Security or Medicare benefits. The annual benefit statement listed a worker's earnings record as well as estimated benefit amounts. It is not known when, or if, the government will resume mailing these annual benefit estimates.
If you need to verify earnings information you can call the SSA directly at (800) 772-1213; TTY – (800) 325-0778, Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 7:00PM.
Estimates of various Social Security benefits can also be calculated right on the SSA website at http://www.ssa.gov/planners/calculators.htm
