Businessman_walking_the_tightrope_lg_clrFielded two more ELNY Liquidation calls today

1. An insurance agent I know mentioned that he "received a bizarre phone call from someone on whom he wrote an annuity on in 1987 and he hadn't heard from in 24 years,  who said he received a benefit reduction letter".  You mean Executive Life of New York ?" I said.  And so the conversation began as I brought the caller up to speed on what has happened since Whitney' belted out "Didn't We Almost Have It All", and  referred him to ELNY.Org, our posts and those authored by Hindert.

2. Another caller together with a parent who continues to suffer from horrendous injuries sustained in an automobile accident in the early 1980s, have been receiving structured settlement payments from Executive Life of New York annuities.  BOTH received benefit reduction letters, one of them 40% covered, the other 50% covered. By the time the caller reached me, he or she had already queried a number of people who he or she stated "could not answer his or her basic questions" and the calls to the contact number on the ELNY site "were met with scripted responses". The potentially good news is that the structures were not assigned to First Executive and that the owner appears to be a solvent insurer.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: While I am happy to speak with any Executive Life of New York annuitant as a compassionate voice from the structured settlement industry and to share my historical research through this medium, I am not a lawyer and cannot provide legal advice to Executive Life of New York annuitants. ELNY annuitants should consult with a lawyer who can advise them of their legal rights and how to protect them under the proposed liquidation of ELNY.

    John,
I am the ELNY contract holder that you spoke with last night on the telephone. I truly thank you for speaking with me and sharing the information you have gathered on ELNY. I just wanted to update you on the ‘progress’ that I have made on the fight against our payment reductions. First, I have contacted a contract attorney and set up an appointment with him to meet first thing monday morning. As you have suggested in your podcast, I will gather all necessary documentation and present it to him. Second, I did receive a call back from ELNY regarding the Owner of my SSA contract (Buckeye Union). The ELNY representative told me they have no idea who Buckeye Union is and ELNY has no contact information for Buckeye Union. The representative stated that I should wait and see if Buckeye Union contacts me. That conversation with the ELNY representative adds to the list of obscure information that I’ve received from ELNY. Lastly, I did get an email from a representative at NOLHGA. Although most of the information he sent to me is information that I already have, the email was more informative than anything I’ve gotten from ELNY. I have yet to hear back from the New York Liquidation Bureau and the Florida Life & Health Guaranty Association. As far as I know, the Florida Guaranty Association is still unaware of ELNY’s Liquidation proceedings. I will continue to update you as the situation progresses.

My attorney destroyed all of my paperwork and said there was nothing that they could do. It was their standard operation procedure to destroy all files after ten years after the case was finished. When wanting me to sign the SSA agreement, they kept telling how great this SSA was, they told me that if I had any problems with payments, they would be there to help.Funny how attorneys and others treat after they have gotten all the money that they can out of you? It seems that they would hire any expert to win my case but none in order to see if ELNY was a wise investment. I guess they could care less if I suffer the second time around for they have theirs so what about mine? Wonder if any bells went off in their head about how much cheaper ELNY was than any other insurance annuity or maybe it was cashing their share of the settlement check they worried about?
