A website which calls itself Alexarating.com states the following in its advertising
"Increase your website Alexa traffic ranking. A higher Alexa ranking and Alexa reach can easily be obtained today. AlexaRating.com will boost your Alexa"
Alexarating.com states just how it does this using their software for which you pay $29.95
"By using our (Alexarating.com) state-of-the-art software, you are basically sending fake internet traffic
to your website. Each hit is counted by your server as a unique hit to your site.
As Alexa indexes your site, the more unique website traffic you can show, the lower
your Alexa ranking will become."
Does fake internet traffic mean fraud? I don’t know about you but that’s what it means to me. The promoter of this product makes $29.95 so that serves to trick the Alexa Search engine (owned by Amazon) to rank you better. The sad thing is that this software manufacturer search engine optimizer is doing this with apparent impunity, diminishing the value of the Alexa ranking, thereby victimizing both Alexa (Amazon) the web site owners who use this "search engine optimizition" and consumers who rely on the Alexa ratings. In light of this information what use is the Alexa ranking if you don’t know your traffic is real?

There doesn’t appear to be any recognition of Alexa’s registered trade mark in any of the sales material. One thing that shows real "intelligence" (sarcastic emphasis added) is the website owners claiming a copyright in using the "fake internet traffic". However I checked the United States Patent and Trademark Office and couldn’t find patent application for "fake internet traffic".
To compound the sleaze factor, this company even pays people to act as affiliate marketers to sell the software that perpetuates the "fake internet traffic"! What the %#!*?
For this "faker", let the chips fall where they may. Book ’em Alexa!
