Structured settlements expert John Darer reviews the latest structured settlements and settlement planning information and news, and provides expert opinion and highly regarded commentary. that is spicy, Informative, irreverent and effective for over 20 years.

A Wisconsin Law Journal article published last Fall mischaracterizes the 23 professional member organization known as The Society of Settlement Planners (SSP), as "an organization of litigation annuity specialists who work exclusively with plaintiffs". This author believes there are reasons to suggest that it was not the case at the time the article was written.

The article was subsequently republished in the Daily Record and Kansas City Daily News Press on October 21, 2006. Charles J. "Chuck" Derenne, then President of the Society of Settlement Planners was quoted as saying "you can't work both sides of the fence". Ironically, at the time the quote was made, the SSP had just admitted John T. Bair who was only weeks removed from the now indisputable fact that he signed the following declaration under penalty of perjury to the United States Department of Justice. The article , which was essentially a press release for the Registered Settlement Planner designation suggested that it was probable that a handful of SSP founders and board members would be grandfathered into the designation. This is apparently now NOT a true statement. The author understands the grandfathering became and issue for accredation of the designation. But at least you get the idea of what the "brains" behind this group was thinking. Thankfully, but perhaps because of force, someone came to their senses.

The other day I discussed the 43.47% Settlement Planners, Inc. majority that is no doubt stifling growth of the organization as it weighs in like the leaning tower of Pisa.

Now it can be revealed that according to Alexa, 80% of those that link to the Society of Settlement Planners website are associated with factoring.
