It’s not unusual for a team paying to pay athletes deferred payments, but Bobby Bonilla was no Ken Griffey, Jr. or Manny Ramirez, who got bigger deferred payments, had greater accomplishments and bettter examples to promote deferred payments for any company, let alone, a company from Boston.

A little cultural awareness goes a long way. I regret that it’s necessary to have to highlight something else by Chronovo, but it seems necessary, in my opinion. I offered to review before their publication but so far they have not taken me up on it. What a pity.

While mllions of animals died in the January 2020 Australian wildfires,Chronovo insensitively exploited the tragedy with its “Smartoon” ad. The caption on Chronovo’s controversial image suggested that killing a rabbit daily for freshness is a better alternative to killing an elephant. A Mammoth embarrassment!

The IRS refined definition of fixed and determinable in a series of PLRs. PLR 199943002 (variable annuities) and 201435006 (fixed annuity with index-linked adjustment rider). Fixed obligations must be set forth in the settlement agreement. Determinable payments can be based on an objective formula.

The Direct Pay press release is a bit of selective exploitation of a recent event and marketing overkill in the same vein as settlement planners pushing “Grillo waivers” for the last 25 years to induce the sale of more structured settlements.
